Founded in 2018 by players from the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School, Ensemble Renard is an exciting young wind quintet. The five outstanding musicians regularly perform with the UK’s major orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and the Aurora Orchestra.

Having begun their careers working with composers Hans Abrahamsen and John Woolrich, they champion new music and regularly commission new works. The ensemble has performed widely across the UK, developing programmes of quintet classics interspersed with more challenging repertoire. They appeared this year, for the second year running, at Snape Maltings as Britten-Pears Young Artists; they have given recitals at venues including St John’s Smith Square and the Stoller Hall; and made a return for the third year running to the Llanfyllin Music Festival in Wales.

We anticipate a most attractive concert of compelling musicianship in their programme today which includes a delightfully eclectic selection of compositions.

Francesca Cox (oboe), Ellie Blamires (flute), James Gilbert (clarinet), George Strivens (horn), Patrick Bolton (bassoon)
