TRIO LEGAME
Legame: communication, bond, connection ….
Trio Legame is a dynamic and passionate chamber ensemble formed by three highly accomplished musicians: violinist Emma Arizza, cellist Ludovico Colombo, and pianist Ana Bursac. Despite being a newly established trio, each member brings a wealth of professional experience, having studied at world-renowned institutions such as the Royal College of Music and Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London.
Individually, the members of Trio Legame have performed in prestigious venues across Europe, including major concert halls in the UK such as Steinway Hall, County Hall and Wigmore Hall. They have also been involved in successful duo partnerships, with Emma Arizza collaborating with both Ludovico Colombo in violin-cello performances and Ana Bursac in violin-piano recitals at Villa d’Este and Sala Carducci at Como, Italy. These collaborations have deepened their connection to chamber music, now serving as the foundation of their shared artistic vision.
Trio Legame is now focusing on exploring the vast and inspiring repertoire for piano trio. Their debut at the Bloomsbury Festival in London marks an exciting milestone in their career, and they are eagerly preparing for more performances throughout the UK and Italy in the coming year. With their shared dedication to chamber music, they aim to bring their unique energy and refined artistry to audiences across Europe.
The Trio élégiaque No1 by Rachmaninoff opens our programme today. Its single movement consisting of 12 sections, allows each of the instruments to develop the opening elegiac theme in a variety of moods. ★ In an unparalleled creative surge towards the end of his life, Schubert produced a flood of masterpieces, including the Trio which forms the centrepiece of our concert. Its majestic first movement is a rich and colourful dialogue between two themes of great emotional subtlety. The lyrical slow movement and lively scherzo are followed by a dance-like trio. The colourful Rondo with its extended themes and variations weaves glorious sonorities that end the piece. ★ The concert will conclude with an arrangement for Piano Trio of the hauntingly beautiful Adagietto from Mahler’s 5th Symphony. This promises to be an afternoon of emotionally charged chamber music.
